Warm Weather Updates

As spring brings more sun and warmer temperatures, please remind your tenants of the following safety measures:

  • Help ensure your tenants obey all current state and local public health and executive orders. It is extremely important to discourage large gatherings, even outdoors.
  • Avoid having any indoor upholstered furniture on the exterior of the property.
  • Always stay off the roof.
  • Discourage installation of tarps on the exterior of the premises.
  • As you know, these measures positively impact tenants and their neighbors' safety while also ensuring your properties are kept in good condition.

Campus Reactivation

Ohio State announced on Feb. 25 that planning is underway for reactivation of its campuses this fall to offer safe and robust in-person experiences significantly expanded from current restrictions.  Continuing to follow all appropriate measures to protect the health and well-being of the community, and with the partnership and approval of local, state and federal health authorities, the university’s plans will include increasing:

  • In-person teaching, learning and student activities.
  • Students in the residence halls, including those students who are required to live on campus their second year.
  • Staff working on campus.
  • In-person campus services and events
  • Fans in attendance at Ohio State football games and other athletic competitions.
  • More campus reactivation details can be found on the Planning for 2021-22 academic year webpage

Virtual Off-Campus Communities

To continue strengthening off-campus and commuter students’ connection to the university, our Community Ambassador and Commuter Mentor peer leaders have created online communities for students living in the University District and beyond. Commuter students may join iCommute to connect with fellow commuter students and our peer mentors, while students in the University District have a home in BLOC (Buckeyes Living Off-Campus)

Safety Devices

Our office has distributed more complementary safety devices this year than any year before it, with thousands of devices given to students. We continue to offer pickup times for free window and door alarms, safety timers, and 9V batteries for smoke alarms. Please continue to encourage your student tenants to take advantage of this service.
